Incurable Cases

Question: Dear Dr. Luc - My question is about incurable cases, specifically *How far along after taking a case have you determined that it is incurable I.a. months, years? *Throughout your years of practice, have you seen an increase in incurable cases as more and more people use a variety of allopathic medication over their lifetime before seeking (knowing) about homeopathy? *Do you advise the patient that their case is incurable in order to manage their expectations as to what they can expect from homeopathic treatment? *Have you found through your practice that there are certain types of diseases that are more 'prone' to be incurable or is it patient specific based on their lifestyle, miasms they have inherited, medications used. etc. Thank you for your time.

Answer:
Excellent question. Most of the time a person comes to me with much medical info and to some extent a precise diagnosis so I have a very good idea from the start regarding the prognosis. Of course you must keep in mind that most if not all chronic cases in allopathy are considered "incurable" and we talk in allopathy about "controlling" the illness through suppressive medications, inevitable leading to more complex diseases. Many of these diseases (asthma, eczema, etc.) are curable in homeopathy. There are of course incurable diseases coming to us (often after longtime suppressive allopathic treatment) and even then, a homeopath must consider every case curable till proven the contrary. We have principles in management that can show us rather fast (within three months or so) to see if the case is curable or palliative. So even in the incurable cases homeopathy has powerful means to palliate his illness so that the patient is as comfortable as possible. I remember in my practice a case of 80 year old woman with such extensive cancer that they opened and closed her and told the family she would live for 2 months. Yet under homeopathic treatment she lived for 2.5 years and was living very well till one week before she died. As usual every case is different and much depends on miasms (hereditary influence), constitution and life style.

Warm regards
