asthma and Homeopathy

Question: Where should we turn when various homeopaths have not been able
to help my son's asthma? I'm a reader of your blog & learn so much from
it. We have been to 3 different homeopaths for my 5 year old son's asthma-
a DO, an MD, an ND. Sometimes the remedies have worked for a month, but
redosing does nothing. He has persistent asthma despite allergy-proofing
our house, NAET, chiropractor visits, gfcf diet, etc. He is extremely
small for his age and could probably be considered failure to thrive. He
is bright, especially in math (doing factorials, multiplication, etc. for
fun at age 5.5), geography, & history. He developed asthma at age 2.5
after having eczema as a baby. He also went from 50th percentile in weight
down to 5th over the course of 2 years. It definitely has an emotional
component & is worse whenever we have some change going on (it originally
started after movers came to pack our house for a move). He's been
prescribed tuberculinum, stramonium, lachesis, carcinosin, medorrhinum,
natrum sulphuricum, natrum muriaticum & a few others as constitutional
remedies (this is over many visits), but nothing that lasts. The procedure
of the
homeopaths here seems to be to prescribe a 200c potency, then have me give
a 6c every day for a month or so. Once I was given natrum muriaticum in a
1M solution. I'm so tired of medicating him with albuterol, & I know there
must be a homeopathic solution out there. Book or other suggestions are
appreciated.


Dear Jennifer: You are right not to give up as this is a treatable
condition. No doubt there is a component of "failure to thrive" which must
be taken in account to select the right remedy. I can see that (as is
often the case) the management needs to be fine tuned. It might well be
that the right remedy was given already (as you mention good reaction for
one month) but administering first a 200C and then 6C is unordodox. A 6C
after 200c IF it is the right remedy will actually slow down the action of
the 200C potency first given, rather than stimulating it. Even if your
homeopaths are 4th edition prescribers, one should not go from 200c to 6C
unless there is a similar aggravation to slow down the process. In your
son's case we also see the common courseof going from eczema (suppressed
by cortisone probably) to asthma; this happens everyday in the US and the
