Pregnancy Morning Sickness

Question: Dr. Luc, When prescribing for morning sickness, particularly in the first trimester of pregnancy, should the homeopath focus on the acute nature of the morning sickness in prescribing and dosing? Or because morning sickness can occur over a longer period (i.e. the whole 9th month pregnancy in some cases) should a chronic approach on dosing methods be considered instead? Also, do we still always match the morning sickness remedy to the presenting symptoms plus the woman's miasmic background and constitution as a whole? Thank you for your insights and support to so many through your Blog!
Answer: If this is happening the first three months pretty much an acute, chosen according to all the modalities will do, although remedies like Sepia and Phosphorus can be indicated. When you talk about morning sickness longer than the first three months, it is called hyperemesis gravidarum, a more serious condition for which the patient is often hospitalized. Certainly in this case still acute prescribing is necessary (and no miasmatic background will be taken in account). In these circumstances great polychrests like Sepia will be more indicated. Constitution will be here of less importance too except to keep in mind that Phosphorus is indicated in a special kind of morning nausea (upon drinking water as soon as it gets warm in the stomach it is vomited).
