Flu prevention
Question: Dear Dr. Luc - I have read on several classical homeopaths websites
that they prescribe Influenzium 30C, once a month from Nov. through Mar as a
preventative measure until the genus epidemicus becomes known. They also
recommend it is important to consider the after effects of the flu i.e. there
is often some level of depletion, especially if there was GI involvement, so
cell salts such as Kali-phos are very useful. Could you please provide your
thoughts/concerns regarding these recommendations? Thank you.
Answer: Influenzinum (nosode) is one of the possible preventives for flu till
genus epidemicus is found. The problem with this nosode is that patients only
can get it from their doctor and nosodes in the US (some of them) are only
available from MD prescription. It is therefore easier to do a monthly dose
of Arsenicum 30c, just as effective and available everywhere. It is always
important after flu (like any other acute disease) to see if the previoius
chronic picture has changed. Sometimes it does, sometimes not. But such acute
events are known to flare up existing chronic miasms and patients will
complain from "sequellae" or consequences from such event which are nothing
but new miasmatic symptoms flared up to be taken into account in the next
chronic prescription
