Swine Flu prevention

Question: Dear Dr. Luc, There seems to be confusion in the homeopathic
community and among homeopaths and parents about the benefit of doing a
weekly or monthly Arsenicum 200C dosing to prevent the flu (including the
swine flu). Since it is still too early for the 'genus epidemicus' for
this year's flu to be determined this season, are there any disadvantages
in dosing Arsenicum as a preventative if it is not this year's 'genus
epidemicus'? Can any harm be done to clients with this kind
of preventative homeopathic dosing? Do the potentially benefits of flu
prevention out weigh possible risks with regular preventative dosing of
Arsenicum to avoid the flu. Thank you for your explanation on this matter
and any insights you can provide to the community on why you continue to
specifically recommend Arsenicum dosing for flu prevention.

Answer: Indeed I have read some of the comments and I am surprised how I
am misquoted. It is not the first time, neither will it be the last time.
Let's make the situation very clear. There is a difference treating a
specific flu with the genus epidemicus (the indicated remedy for the flu
of that year) and prevention of flu when the genus epidemicus is not known
yet. First of all: WHEN to start the prevention and/or treatment? Why are
flu shots given in October and not July? Because the typical flu is a
sycotic event, in other words exacerbated by cold-dampness, typically
related to the fall. There are also summer flus but they are mostly
causing diarrhea and gastric symptoms. So unless you are in the midst of
an epidemic NOW (which is not the case) there is NO need to start a
specific prevention till October or till we see cases appearing around us.
At this point, as long as the genus epidemicus is NOT known, Arsenicum
always remains the best prevention. (there is also a nosode Influenzinum,
oscillococcinum) Giving a 30C dose Arsenicum in water once a week does not
lead as I read to accessory symptoms. Why? Because the rules of prevention
are different. Kent explains this in the past that for preventive reasons,
the similarity does not need to be as accurate as for curative reasons.
This does not mean that this coming season you wil be taking Arsenicum
throughout the winter. It is enough that we see 10-20 cases to determine
the genus epidemicus of the swine flu. I know much panic is already caused
in the media (what's new!) but any good homeopath most likely by end of
October if not sooner will know the genus epidemicus! And then it can be
used preventative for rest of the family and curative for those that
suffer from it. So what to do now? What you always should do. Eat well,
rest well, exercise, copntrol your emotions as much as possible. If you
already are in treatment homeopathically, for whatever layer you are
treated correctly, you are reinforcing your Vital Force and resistance.
Nux vomica was the genus epidemicus of last season but this not mean at
all it will be the remedy for swine flu. Unless we have seen several cases
we simply don't know yet!
Hopefdully this clears up some misunmderstanding.

Warmest regards
