Anesthesia

Question: Hello Dr Luc Hope you are well. We are expecting our first child
in March. What is your opinion on a women using an epidural for pain
management during labor? My wife will be making the choice (obviously) but
we are looking at the pro's and con's. Thanks a lot, your blog is very
informative.

Dear friend Sean! Congrats with the happy news. There is no doubt that
drugs (allopatrhic) should be used with caution as everything administered
to the woman will affect the baby. The best delivery without any doubt is
the natural one without any drugs or sectio. However we have many
wonderful remedies for each state of the delivery process, starting with
making sure that there is good quality of contractions, excellent
painkillers, anti bleeding remedies, remedies for breech position, lack of
urination after delivery, good flow of milk, etc. Your homeopath should
prepare you for each step, giving you along the different remedies. I
often have done so for my patients and I can assure you that it makes for
a comfortable and safe delivery.

To you and your dear wife,

My warmest regards and my thoughts will be with you both as I know you
both well
