LM Potency

Question:
Dr. Luc, What is the general rule of thumb for LM dosing? Is the
same dose repeated daily until it is clear it needs to be increased? And
when it does need to be increased what do you think is more
effective...succussing the bottle an additional time or increasing the
amount of drops taken? I have read that the same dose should never be
repeated...is this so? Many thanks.

Answer:
There is much confusion between "dose' and "potency." partially it
is to blame sometimes on Hahnemann where he talks about the dose in a
sentence but we see from what follows that he means potency. But usually he
is very clear and he certainly talks always about giving the smallest
possible dose of the highly potentized remedy! So when we talk about "the
same dose' should never repeated, this is mistakenly quoted as the same
potency (and Hahnemann says it correctly in A 279) ...so the same potency
should NEVER be repeated in the subsequent doses...that's why we succuss the
remedy bottle.

Regarding repetition: there is NEVER mechanical daily repetition of any
dosing, dry or in water..patients should ALWAYS do a test dose and the
result to this will determine the repetition, potency and dose of the next
intakes. Certainly once the case is going forward, with the 5th and 6th
edition methods, the remedy ALWAYS is succussed while in every circumstance
the amount remains the lowest possible (drops of the remedy) (A 275/A256).

Hope this clears up some things.
