Acute and Redosing

Question:
Dear Dr Luc,

Firstly I wanted to thank you for sharing with us this year's flu remedy.
It has saved me and my own on countless occasions. The recent emails about
epidemic prescribing brought to my mind a question regarding how a bout of
an epidemic (in this case the flu) affects the homeopathic case.

I know that Hahnneman wrote that the eradication of an acute exacerbation
of the chronic lessens the miasmatic burden of the patient. But what
affect does the epidemic have then?

I ask because I am experiencing a slip backwards in my own son's case after
the flu and would like to take the answer to this question in consideration
regarding how to re-dose the chronic remedy.

Answer:
Dear Bien,

There are two directions such acute event can go. First what you are saying:
any good eradication of the acute situation will relieve to some extent the
miasmatic burden, especially if the acute (Arsenicum) is a complementary
remedy of the chronic remedy of your child. But what it also can do is the
opposite. This acute flu (is not in my opinion an acute exacerbation of a
chronic situation but truly a new epidemic-my son in Belgium just told me
his whole family had it and 8 out of 12 children in child care had it)
creates a different problem: it always stimulates the underlying miasm (if
it was dormant it wakes it up; if it was not dormant it just will add fire
to the existing miasm, often overpowering the VF). In Allopathy, we call it
the patient is suffering from the sequellae of the acute disease, sometimes
even succumbs. Nothing is further from the truth. Such acute event often
expands the chronic picture so in the case of your son, a higher potency
must be used to make sure to overcome the increase in miasmatic soil.

Warm regards
Dr luc
