Mom Identical to Child?

Question: We took our 8 year old to a homeopath and our son tried to express himself but it wasn't to the satisfaction of the homeopath. So, the homeopath has said because my son is a lot like me, that he will treat me and then treat my son. I don't think he is charging any extra money and has our best interests in mind. I just wanted to get a second opinion though as I don't have time to waste and don't know enough about this to decide if this is a good approach. The homeopath asked my son what was the worst experience he has and it led to expressing a feeling of being startled/afraid (when I call him to get ready for school in the morning). My son couldn't come up with any other words. I was wondering if a good homeopath for kids would be able to get what he/she needs from the child without learning about the mother instead? My son has full speech even though his expressive language might not be perfect, his vocabulary is pretty extensive for his age actually. How could one treat a younger child who couldn't talk well then? And we are not clones, he and I. Just wondering what your thoughts are, thank you.

Answer: Interesting question and as I deal with children all day long, I never saw such dilemma. In other words, the moment a child can speak, I ask him or her a few questions regarding preferences, foods, games, friends, anything the child can answer. would not expect any GREAT answers from children neither from most of teenagers! You must be kidding: teenagers are not into psychology too much nor will they provide me with any good follow ups. In other words, the moms know their child! That does NOT mean that mom always need the same remedy as the child...just saying, "you look a lot like your child" without doing an in-depth inquiry of mom and an OBSERVATION of the child, that is wild guess work. In other words, every good mom can provide me with all the peculiar, rare and special characteristics of her child and obviously it is also my task to ask appropriate questions...indeed how could we otherwise treat many ASD children who have speech difficulties? It takes good investigation skills but one needs to be able to see the child's picture through the eyes of observation and the loving but factual eyes of the mom.
