Supplements
Question: Hi, Dr. Luc's. As many Autistic kids my son (who is 4 years old) is not the exception. I have been fitting to get him more into the basic supplementations but adding and adding he is know over 15 supplements per day. To make it short, I want to ask you to help me short that list to the basics: 1. DHA (it is ok 2 or 3 times per day) I heard that helps with apraxia and others? He is getting 1 x day now. 2. B-12 injection (Hydroxy) (3 times per week)? 3. Clay (red or green) intake to help with diarrhea and GI issues? He also is having others that some are OK for every kid and others that are not so relevant, but we can discuss them in our visitation. Thanks GOD BLESS YOU, Beatriz
Answer: The problem with all these supplements is that they are usually part of a protocol, which means every ASD child will get them. While some can be seen on diet, supplements,...it is limited and non specific. I can see with all these ASD children that they are by far on too many supplements just like other alternative physicians put adult an array of supplements. The one you are mentioned are OK although I am sure he does not enjoy the injections. I always would say this: keep those supplements for the for which you have seen improvement in YOUR child, not other children.
